Ugh...

Yesterday was my second venture into the pool. Both pathetic workouts that I won't even bother posting but I have been chlorinated and plan to do so again. Pretty bad when I am barely outpacing the college girl in a ponytail! It seems like ECU is warming their pool for water aerobics and not lap swimming. Nice getting in, but also enticing to cruising. The one miler in June might be ugly!

Franny- what drills should I be doing?

  1. Welcome back to the pool. It will get easier. that stinks that the pool is so warm, hopefully this summer it will be better. I think right now sets focused on drills and legs are the way to go. Drill suggestions include: 1. Stop, stop switch 2. one L/one R/one together (and variations, try a set where you increase this so that it's just one full round down the pull, say 4R, 4L, 4T, gets you down the pool, this will help your rotation and catch) 3. distance per stroke (you can turn this into a set, by starting with 3 strokes down the pool and increasing it by 1 until you get to 14) 4. 3/4 catch up 4. stick kick, no more than six switches, push the nose of the stick forward with each switch 5. 15 meter blasts to get some speed work in 6. i of course will suggest some non free in here as well. 1 arm fly, 2l, 2r, 2 together. back: 3l/3r/3together, one arm, switching L drill, robot drill (pulling extremely wide), distance per stroke. breast: 2 up/2down where down is either kick, pull or underwater pull downs. skull. fast hands breast with flutter, dolphin or breast kick. shrug your shoulders. ok i realized i should have just posted this in a blog. have fun!
